Renewable GrantsGrants for micro renewables in Northern Ireland. In addition, NIE also provides additional support for some technologies. Click on the links below to find out more information:
DTI Low Carbon Buildings ProgrammeGrants totalling £10.5 million are available to house holders and community organisations under the DTI Low Carbon Building Programme. The Low Carbon Building Programme will fund a range of micro generation technologies including:
For more information and details on how to apply visit www.lowcarbonbuildings.co.uk/ Phase 2 grants are open to public sector not-for-profit organisations Grants available from NIENEW Support for Businesses for Biomass HeatingFollowing the success of previous programmes for non domestic biomass heating, the NIE SMART programme is launching further grants to support non domestic biomass installations. Applications are welcome from businesses who are considering installing a biomass boiler or stove. Through the previous support programmes we have supported installations at outdoor activity centres, restaurants, retail outlets, engineering firms and even funeral directors. Installers must be approved through the Microgeneration Certification Scheme or the Renewable Energy Installer Academy, and products through the Microgeneration Certification Scheme or the Energy Technology List. The funding will be used to support, through a grant, the installation of biomass heating systems including wood pellet and wood chip. The following grants are available from the NIE SMART programme which is managed by NIE Energy on behalf of NIE:
Funding support can be claimed for the cost of the boiler, the installation of the boiler and the fuel store but not for radiators or thermal stores. The application form for grants and the guidelines for support are available below: Applicants receiving funding for the same renewable project from any other NIE programme will not be funded through this scheme. This is a limited offer from NIE and is available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis – retrospective grants will not be offered for existing installations or installations which are underway. Some installations will be profiled for PR purposes to raise awareness of the uptake of renewable energy in Northern Ireland. Please send your completed application form to: Gwyneth Compston NEW Householder Low Carbon Buildings Programme Top-Up from NIE For Solar Thermal, Solar Photovoltaics and Wind. This Low Carbon Buildings Programme Stream 1 (LCBP Stream 1) top up has been developed to help make renewable energy more accessible for householders in Northern Ireland. To access the top up grant, householders must use LCBP accredited installers and products and be able to provide evidence that a successful application has been made for LCBP funding. Applicants receiving funding for the same renewable project from any other NIE programme will not be funded through this LCBP top up. Funding will not be available for retrospective installations – only applications submitted from the 6th April 2009 will be eligible for additional funding from this new top up. The following top up grants are available from the NIE SMART programme which is managed by NIE Energy on behalf of NIE:
When a Northern Ireland application is made to the LCBP Stream 1 then an application form for the NIE top up will be posted to the applicant by the LCBP team. To be eligible for the additional support, householders must be in receipt of a grant offer from the LCBP Stream 1 and send a copy with their NIE application. Please note that the householder stream of the Low Carbon Buildings Programme has been extended for applications until June 2010. The NIE top up is a limited offer and is available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Some installations will be profiled for PR purposes to raise awareness of the uptake of renewable energy in Northern Ireland. Please send your completed application form and a copy of your LCBP Stream 1 letter of offer to:- Delta Hamilton NIE Housing Association LCBP Phase 2 top upThis Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 2 (LCBP Phase 2) top up has been developed to assist Housing Associations in Northern Ireland who are keen to make use of renewable energy. To access the LCBP Phase 2 funding, a Framework supplier and local installer must be used. Applicants receiving funding for the same renewable project from any other NIE programme will not be funded through the Housing Association top up. The application form for grants and the guidelines for support are available below: The maximum grant for any one location is not greater than 15% of project cost, or £5,000 (£4,500 for PV), whichever is the lesser, to ensure a good spread of groups and technologies are supported. The aim of the programme is to provide visible demonstration projects for both householders and other organisations. LCBP Phase 2 supports a range of renewable technologies and details of accredited products are available here as an MS Excel file. Each installation will be used for PR in local press. Please note that applications to the Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 2 need to be submitted by the end of June 2009. This is a limited offer and is available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. Please send your completed application form and a copy of the LCBP Phase 2 letter of offer to:- Gwyneth Compston Wind turbines for schools LCBP Phase 2 Top-up.Wind turbines for schools LCBP Phase 2 Top-up has been developed to assist schools in Northern Ireland with installing turbines. The Energy Managers in the Education & Library Boards have been asked by many schools in their area if there is any funding programmes for the installation of wind turbines. Wind energy is one of the most cost effective options for generating electricity in a school and the turbine can also be used as an educational tool. Each installation would have an output display panel to show electricity generated and CO2 savings. This data could also feed into the Switched on Schools website. Schools would also be able to sell their export, if any, and their ROCs through the NIE Energy Generation Tariff. The turbines would be sized at 5 or 6kW in order to qualify for funding under Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 2. The Boards can also apply for funding through the Central Energy Efficiency Fund, or supply their own funding. Smart funding will be up to £5,000, or £1,000 per kWp, whichever is lower, for each wind turbine installed. Ursula Toman, Northern Ireland Energy Agency, is managing the scheme on NIE’s behalf. Please contact her at 028 9026 5996 for further details and an application form. Limited Offer. NIE Community Low Carbon Buildings Programme Phase 2 Top-up.NIE Community LCBP Phase 2 Top-up is to encourage community groups in Northern Ireland to apply for Low Carbon Buildings Programme Funding. NIE will top-up the grant to an overall 65% of the installed cost. Grants Please note all NIE Top-up grants will be capped at £5,000 for each technology. Applicants receiving funding for the same renewable project from any other NIE programme will not be funded through the NIE Community LCBP Phase 2 Top-up. Ursula Toman, Northern Ireland Energy Agency, is managing the scheme on NIE's behalf. Please contact her at 028 9026 5996 for further details and an application form. NIE PV Top Up GrantIt has been agreed that NIE will top up the Low Carbon Buildings grant for Photovoltaics (PV). The government PV grant is currently £2,000 per kW installed (up to a maximum of £2,500 per property). NIE will now top this up with an additional 15% (or £900 per kWp, whichever is less, capped at £4,500). The process of how this will work is outlined below. LCBP
Help with Hydro - Revised NIE Hydro FundingTo date, the Smart 1 programme has funded 5 small scale hydro installations, with 5 further grant offers made.
