NIE Energy has given away free energy saving light bulbs to The Stroke Association Northern Ireland as part of an energy saving promotion.
Zoe McKay from NIE Energy recently met Janice Kirkpatrick, Operations Projects Officer for The Stroke Association NI, based in the Knockbracken Healthcare Park on the Saintfield Road, to give the free energy saving light bulbs to one of the many groups that will receive them.
Zoe from NIE Energy said “NIE Energy is delighted to be able to give free energy saving light bulbs to members of The Stroke Association NI.
“NIE Energy is keen to help people save energy and money and one simple way to do this is to replace standard light bulbs with energy saving ones.
“Technology has moved on a lot since energy saving light bulbs were first invented, and so has the way they look. In fact, whatever type of bulbs you use to light your home, there are sure to be stylish energy saving equivalents.”
Lights make up the biggest part of an electricity bill for a typical household. Using energy saving light bulbs has always been a bright idea for your pocket and the environment. They use up to 80% less electricity than a standard bulb, but produce the same amount of light. By replacing a standard bulb with an energy saving one in a light that is on often, you will save about £10 a year off the electricity bill.
Janice Kirkpatrick from The Stroke Association Northern Ireland added: “ The Stroke Association NI is a community based charity providing vital professionally led services such as speech and language therapy, family and carer support, training, information and advice to stroke survivors and people living with aphasia, their carers and families, right across Northern Ireland.
“It is great to be able to give our members here at the Knockbracken Healthcare Park free energy saving light bulbs donated by NIE Energy. Taking this simple step, such as changing to energy saving light bulbs, can save both money and energy.”
