NIE Energy Shines Light on North Belfast
26 Oct 2009
NIE Energy has donated free energy saving light bulbs as part of an energy saving promotion to the North Belfast Day Centre for people with mental health difficulties.
Ralph Graham from NIE Energy recently met with Anne Sproule, a Day Care Worker from the North Belfast Day Centre to donate the free energy saving light bulbs to the group.
Ralph from NIE Energy said: “NIE Energy is delighted to be giving away free energy saving light bulbs to the day centre members.
“It is a bright idea to switch to energy saving light bulbs as they use up to 80% less electricity than a standard bulb. When put in a frequently used light, an energy saving light bulb can save the consumer £10 per year.
“It used to be that energy saving bulbs were bigger than standard bulbs and either didnt fit or poked out the top of the lamp shade. Thats not the case anymore. You can now get energy saving bulb equivalents of nearly every shape of bulb you might need, and they are nice and bright as well.”
Anne from the North Belfast Day Centre added: “The day centre is for adults with mental health difficulties from across Belfast. Our members are adults aged between 18 and 65 and most members live on their own.
“These energy saving light bulbs donated by NIE Energy are great to save energy and money, as our members are finding the pinch from the credit crunch and are keen to save money especially through energy saving.”
If you are involved with an organisation that work with vulnerable members of the community and wish to apply to receive free energy saving light bulbs from NIE Energy, please visit the NIE Energy website on www.nieenergy.co.uk .
For anyone who is interested in using energy saving light bulbs in their own home, NIE Energy is currently offering energy saving bulbs at subsidised prices. Details are available about this promotion and others at www.nieenergy.co.uk .
