Solar Radio for Local Energy Saver

14 Oct 2009

A local energy saver has won the top prize from a competition ran by NIE Energy at the recent Green Living Fair at Castle Espie.

Sarah McConnell and her mum from Comber attended the Fair and made a point of visiting NIE Energy’s Renewable and Energy Saving marquee, as Sarah has a keen interest in renewable energy. Whilst there, Sarah entered the quiz and won the top prize, a solar powered radio.

The NIE Energy Renewables & Energy Saving marquee was a highlight once again this year with interactive, educational games for children, whilst parents found out all they needed to know to save energy or produce their own, all under one marquee roof!

Sarah McConnell from Comber explained: “I am very interested in different ways to save energy. I love visiting Castle Espie.

“I am delighted to have won this solar radio from NIE Energy, as I will be able save energy through using it.”

Zoe McKay from NIE Energy added: “The Green Living Fair was a fantastic fun-filled event. I am pleased to present Sarah with her prize of a solar powered radio. She is taking the correct steps to save energy

“With household budgets tight, it makes sense now more than ever to reduce the amount of electricity and energy wastage.

“There are many ways to save energy, one being energy saving light bulbs which have always been a bright idea, as they use up to 80% less electricity than a standard bulb. “

NIE Energy is currently running an energy saving light bulb promotion at subsidised prices. Details for this offer are available at www.nie-yourenergy.co.uk .
