Export for generators up to 100kW - Single Rate Export Tariff
NIE Energy will offer you payment for electricity which you generate but do not use on your premises - this is sometimes referred to as export or spill electricity.
The current Single Rate Export Tariff offers generators:
Tariff from 1st October 2009 - 30 September 2010 |
Generators up to 70kW |
5.22p/kWh |
This will be paid annually to generators of 15kW or less - generators over 15kW can opt for quarterly or annual payment.
Import / Export Meter
You must have an import/export meter fitted as part of your installation - if you require one of these meters and NIE Energy is your supplier then we will arrange this for you.
The installation of an import/export meter can be requested through the application form for the NIE Energy Generation Contract. NIE Energy will contact you to arrange the meter change and advise you of the meter you require and the cost. For a single phase meter on a home energy tariff this will be installed free of charge. A quotation for any other meter will be provided on a case by case basis.
If you require an import/export meter to be installed but you are not supplied by NIE Energy you will need to contact your electricity supplier who can arrange for one to be fitted.
You must have an NIE Grid Connection Agreement in place before an import/export meter can be fitted by NIE. A Grid Connection Agreement can be applied for online at www.nie.co.uk/genconnect.
Payment for export will be made separately to your electricity account with NIE Energy. A meter reader will continue to read your electricity meter so that a bill can be issued for the amount of electricity you have imported from NIE Energy. You will be required to submit the export meter reading to NIE Energy so that we can arrange payment for your export but we will give you plenty of notice so that we get this reading on time.
You will be asked to submit your export meter reading to NIE Energy via email and when the reading has been processed you will receive payment via a bank transfer.
