Conditions and Criteria
The following conditions will apply to applications (from 3rd June 2010) for the NIE Household Solar Water Heating Grant:
- This grant only applies to new applications in Northern Ireland from 03rd June 2010 – grant funding will not be paid retrospectively.
- Grant must be used to support the capital and installation costs of a solar water heating system. As a general rule this includes only the equipment itself and related works specific to the functionality of that equipment.
- Scheme must be on a property located within Northern Ireland.
- The funding support only applies to households in Northern Ireland.
- The application form must be completed in full and signed by the applicant.
- You must be in receipt of a grant offer letter from NIE before proceeding with any work. NIE will not provide a grant for households who have proceeded with the work without having applied to NIE and having received a NIE grant offer letter. There will be no exceptions to this requirement.
- System must be designed, installed and commissioned by a registered installer (www.lowcarbonbuildings.org.uk/info/installers/find/installerfind)
- Schemes must use accredited products (www.microgenerationcertification.org/)
- It is good practice to request more than one quote before deciding on an installer and product but for the purposes of the grant, you only need to submit one quote.
- Grants are only available for the installation of new components, re-used or refurbished components are not permissible.
- All statutory approvals must be in place before making an application e.g. Building Control, Planning Permission.
- Only one application will be permitted per household.
- Grants must be claimed within 4 months of a grant offer being made by NIE.
- Applicant must allow access to the installation for inspection purposes by the scheme manager (or other appointed by the scheme manager) if required – random installation checks will be carried out.
- Applicants benefiting from an NIE grant may be requested to participate in promotional activity e.g. a photograph. Participation may not unreasonably be refused.
- Applicants receiving funding for the renewable installation from any other NIE programme or any other funding source will not be funded through the NIE Household Solar Water Heating Grant.
- Payment of the grant will only be made on receipt of a completed grant claim form, an invoice stamped paid and commissioning certificate to NIE Energy.
- By signing the application form you agree to the grant terms and conditions.
- It is your responsibility to inform NIE Energy of any changes to your installation (including any change to the specific type of system you have installed) because it may impact upon your entitlement to receive a grant.
- If you require an extension to your grant offer then you must inform NIE Energy as soon as possible so that a revised grant offer can be considered.
- NIE Energy manages the SMART programme on behalf of NIE.
- NIE Energy reserves the right to refuse applications.
