Energy saving grants and offers

NIE Energy is keen to encourage its customers to use less energy by becoming more energy efficient. There are lots of benefits of saving energy including lower energy bills, helping the environment and increased comfort at home.

This section provides you with advice and information to save energy at home. NIE Energy also manages the Energy Efficiency Programme, which provides a range of grants for energy saving measures.

Current Energy Saving Grants and Offers 2008/09

NIE Energy offers a range of grants and special offers to help make your home more energy efficient – saving you money and reducing harmful emissions that cause climate change.

Householders on lower incomes

Government provides assistance through the warm homes programme. Visit www.eaga.com for further information. NIE Energy provide further assistance for other low income householders who are not eligible for warm homes.

Vulnerable Criteria for Energy Saver Homes* Existing system must be solid fuel, Economy 7 or have no form of heating Own your home or live in private rented accommodation Single with income less than £12,000 gross per annum OR Couple with income less than £18,000 gross per annum AND must be older OR disabled OR have children under 16 at home OR have a long-term health issue that is affected by the cold (this must be accompanied by a Health Professional’s letter)
Healthy Homes	Package of: Cavity Wall Insulation / Loft Insulation to 270mm / Hot Water cylinder insulation up to the value of £1,000. 4 energy saving bulbs Natural gas condensing boiler & controls	Open to vulnerable* people living in the natural gas area	Contact the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre on freephone 0800 512 012 or email ni.advice@est.org.uk and quote ‘Healthy Homes’
Vulnerable Criteria for Healthy Homes* Must live in an area where natural gas is available Existing system must be solid fuel, Economy 7 or have no form of heating Own your home or live in private rented accommodation Have a long term health problem e.g. respiratory related illnesses Single with income less than £12,000 gross per annum OR couple/single parent with income less than £18,000 gross per annum
