Export for generators up to 100kW  - Single Rate Export Tariff

NIE Energy will offer you payment for electricity that you generate but do not use on your premises. This is sometimes referred to as export or spill electricity.

The new Single Rate Export Tariff offers generators:

Tariff from November 2007 - 30 September 2008

Generators up to 100kW

4.75p/kWh

This will be paid annually for generators under 10kW or less and generators over 10kW can opt for quarterly or annual payment.

Import / Export Meter

NIE Energy requires a simple Import / Export meter to be installed in place of your normal meter. If you require an Import / Export meter and NIE Energy is your supplier then we will arrange this.

The installation of an Import / Export meter can be requested through the application form, NIE Energy will contact you to arrange this and advise you of the appropriate meter you require and the cost.  For a Single phase meter on a home energy tariff this will be installed free of charge. A quotation for any other meter will be provided on a case by case basis.

If you require an Import/Export meter to be installed but you are not supplied by NIE Energy you will need to contact your supplier who can arrange for one to be fitted.

You must have an NIE Grid Connection Agreement in place before an NIE Import / Export meter is fitted. This can be applied for online at www.nie.co.uk/genconnect.

The meter reader will continue to read your meter and bill you as usual for the amount of electricity that you buy from your supplier. You will be required to read the export element, either quarterly or annually depending on the size of the installation, then submit the reading via e-mail to NIE Energy.

NIE Energy will then complete a bank transfer for the appropriate amount when we have received and checked your meter reading.
